Found myself in a Dripstone Cave (~y=30) that is open to the surface but the biome is all Desert at surface level (~y=64). The rain mysteriously appears from nothing at the vertical transition from Desert to Dripstone Cave.
(This was observed on a server to which I don’t have the seed, otherwise I would provide extra details.)
Each air block needs to know whether it’s below a dry biome, not just in one.
