This happens with me as well between ios devices ( ipad mini and ipod) and a Nook HD. Players cannot join through local multiplayer to a game generated on the Nook.
I am able though to use the Nook HD to connect to a game generated on an ios device.
Yes, this issue is ongoing and has repeated everytime the game is opened.
