It's no longer working as RenderDragon is applied for 32-bit from 1.18.30. There's no solution for it now (even the non-RenderDragon version) and we can only wait for updates.
An update for this issue, I just tried updating to 1.17.40 and it doesn't flash for me anymore. However, it stucked at red screen and not loading forever.

I found that most of us having this kinda of issues are with Intel HD Graphics.
Happens in 1.16.40 too
Same on SWITCH, when my double piston extender is activated and then deactivated the first sticky piston won't drag back the second sticky piston and the second sticky piston just stays.

I had this issue after updating to Catalina but it appears to have resolved itself now. FWIW it was only happening on 2017 iMac i5. Updated 2017 i5 MBP to Catalina and had no issues whatsoever.
