I have the same problem. More data on the subject for the team working to solve the issue. I had loaded the world and lost the bottom half of my gear as previously reported. I then loaded a world I previously copied before the beta 1.16.100.60 update and all the contents of the chests had been successfully loaded, quit the game, reloaded it and lost the bottom half of the chests again. Ended up creating a new world because I had lost so much progress between the copied world and the original. Currently only using single chests and it is a hassle to organize but at least no progress is being lost.

To the mojang bug squashers: update on the issue, of the big sad lost resources with double chests: as stated before, the bottom half of double chests lose all resources stored in them. Breaking the double chests before opening them has no effect as they are empty to begin with which means the bug happens when loading the world. Makes us players very sad To have spent weeks on end gathering resources just to lose them to a game loading glitch. If there is any way to either help us by giving us new resources, rolling back the servers (if that is even possible) or anything to make our losses count, pls gib resources. We are trying to provide your team with as much detail as possible with the bugs.
