I'm no expert, but try going on your internal sdcard, and back up the worlds that you know work in ~/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds by copying them to your external sdcard (if you have one) or computer. Now, delete the whole games folder. Then delete all the cache and files for mcpe in stettings and force stop it. Then run mcpe and see if it works. Or, if rooted, back up the MCPE apk using Titanium Backup or copying it from /data/app, then uninstall then reinstall the game, and see if that works. If it doesn't, then I'd think you had an incomplete/corrupted download from the Play Store (or where ever you downloaded it from). It could also just be your devices.

If I understand it correctly, you can't "uncorrupt" those files.

As Eduardo Mezêncio said, horses should be client controlled. Horses are completely unenjoyable on SMP on new and even preloaded chunks. Even on my LAN server for me and a few close friends, horses lag sometimes. I really hope you guys decide to make them Client controlled.
