Same issue as above. Huawei mediapad T5 10 inch tablet, all updated. Press sign in for free, signing in screen appears momentarily then app disappears but game is still running in the background. Bring app to foreground and it goes through the start screen and back to Microsoft account sign in for free. Close the account screen and press sign in on next screen, same issue. Same if you go into profile / settings then use sign in for free there. Seems very repeatable. I have gone into app permissions and it has contacts and storage allowed.
Have wiped tablet and upgraded all apps. Reinstalled Minecraft but still has the same issue. Even tried adding Microsoft account to android by adding edge then signing into that. No luck.
