I tried several times reinstalling the game before the recent update and the issue remained, i'll try reinstall it again now that the update is here though and i'll update what happens.

I have the same issue as well. And yeah as they said not even the new update fixed it. I still have the issue in my end
It happened again but with wood
(Spruce wood).
Yes it is loaded with the original minecraft texture pack, I don't have any other texture packs, but when I logged in again the bug or glitch dissappeared.
I think it's because It usually takes over 30s to 1min to open the app and most of the time it crashes saying "Crash was detected, Global Recourses Reset". That happened over 2 times before the glitch occurred.
imagine the nexus has more pixel denity than the ipad mini for example.
That is the reason why you have a tablet with more pixels so that it shows more detail an more realistic colors or the same reversed.
its normal the invisible bedrock goes up to the world heigh limit and if you go higher you are above thet wall so that you can walk and fly over it 😉
