I was having the same issue of minecraft not being able to generate the world, and am using Avast Free. What I did was just go into uninstall a program, go down to Avast and clicked change instead of uninstall. Avast came up and all i did was pushed repair Avast and then restarted my computer and my world generated after that. Hope this helps someone.
