No, that block was preventing them from moving. So they stopped next to that block.
It is not happening for me. All chests / trapped ch. / e. chest are working fine.
Are you using any ResourcePack or did you modified any texture file ?
Confirmed, Eff5 Showel digs as fast as without Eff enchant.
