A similar glitch occurs when people set their anti-aliasing settings to "override application settings". To solve it, try changing that to "application controlled", or disable anti-aliasing altogether.
I have spotted the same behaviour in The End in SMP. (Would love to add a screenie, but this site does not eat my files...)
