I have the same problem with boats, minecarts, and horses, all instances where i press LeftShift to exit the entity. Sometimes the jitters ease off without destroying the boat/minecart/horse, but often I find myself stranded with no transportation. Yes, I can carry an extra boat or minecart, but it's hard to pack a horse.
