It works. Thanks to the friendly mods on the issue tracker and of course the mojang team! This feature is very important to me.

Tested with 16w21b on vanilla multiplayer server.

Tested with 1.8.9 and 15w51b, Singleplayer and Multiplayer on Windows 7 64bit with Java 1.8.0_66 64bit:

/tellraw @a [{"text":"Shift-click here.","insertion":"Success!"}]
/tellraw @a {"text":"Shift-click here.","insertion":"Success!"}

Result:

Works always as intended in single player (and LAN-worlds), but not in mutliplayer.

I tried it with Minecraft Server Vanilla v1.8 on Windows 7 64bit

This bug exists.
