Also happens with any custom models added with datapacks/resourcepacks or mods that uses the translucent render type and has an inner part. The problem seems to go away momentairly if you place a block near the affected one.
I've noticed some repeaters staying on forever when not powered even if they were really close to me. Needless to say that for this reason or another (i've noticed very weird behavior with clocks) in this version alot of my redstone creation are no longer working
Has Mojang ever said anything about their position on this bug? It has been in the game for more than a year and I'd go as far as to say that this is the most critical bug to fix right now , and one of the reasons why alot of people are still playing 1.12
This bug is absolutely the worst. Just made a simple two piston contraption using an observer clock near my house and if I stay 3 chunks near it fps instantly drops near absolute zero. I hope they'll fix this soon
This seems to have gotten way worse since the latest 1.14 snapshots. Now if a player is moving on them while the piston is extending, he almost never gets launched up.
If anybody is interested this forge/fabric mod here fixes it for all models not just items https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/model-gap-fix
