I have fixed the issue temporarily by changing my graphics settings. I am hoping the bug will be fixed eventually so I will not have to have my graphics like this permanently.
In case it works for someone else as well, I right clicked my home screen and clicked NVIDIA graphics settings, then clicked manage 3-D settings. Then I tried changing the preferred graphics processor. I believe "integrated graphics" got it to work finally. But it may just depend on the computer and whatever updates it has. If you have this graphic card as well, maybe try messing with that setting too. Just make sure you know how it was previously set.
I am having the same issue. The game loads and I can see the Mojang logo, then when the main menu appears, it gives me a message saying "Global Resources have caused this game to crash and have been reset to default settings." After that the game crashes. I can't play the game at all and reinstalling it and turning off wifi does not fix the problem either.
Do you have any custom texture packs installed?
One solution may be too back up your saved game files and then reinstall Minecraft. That usually resets errors.
