I'm having the same issue, except it also applies to bees nests.
To expand upon the issue, if I click it, it snaps back to its original place. Same for if I shift-click it. Whether it's from my inventory to a chest or vice versa, it will not move from it's place. Hives and nests can't even be moved to other positions within the storage that it's currently contained. Bees nests and hives can't be placed either. If they are in your hot bar and you try to place it, it just glitches right back to where it was in your inventory. One last interesting observation is that you can't interact with anything if a hive or nest is in your hot bar and you have that slot selected. For example you can't sleep or open a chest, or even open a door.
