We are having the exact same issue with Pocket Edition since the last update. The only way my daughter can change her skin to a 3rd party skin is to select the new skin while in a world. It doesn’t immediately change though. She then has close the world, close the app and reopen everything. Once she does that and goes back into the world, the new skin is applied. One of her favorite things to do is change her skin (for example, she changes her avatar into pjs every time time she goes to sleep, etc.) and she’s very frustrated right now. 😞
