I think what he means to say is that if you place a dirt block down, then you put an obsidian block on top, you use a hoe on the dirt and you plant some seeds the obsidian disappears

Well, this bug has been around ever since 0.7.0 (at least on my phone), so I used a redstone alternative farm instead. Also I think you should post some screenshots
