I am currently having this issue with the Renewable Energy Achievement and the Inception achievement with the pistons. I've made new worlds, made new furnaces and looked up guides to make sure I'm doing this right and nothing's unlocking. I did earn the Staying Frosty achievement between attempting the other two so the world I'm in is purely survival.
