I can also confirm similar issues in 1.14.2. I had an Iron farm in Spawn chunks on my server with over 50 villagers in one area. TPS<17 with just one player online. After removing all the villagers and unloading the area TPS immediately shot back to 19-20 with little fluctuation. Many people have been reporting that mob AI seems to be one of the main problems with the slowness server’s are experiencing in 1.14

I also feel as though 1.14.2 also made things worse on the server side. 1.14.X was already slow, now with this new light calculation the game is pretty much unplayable. I really wish we could get some sort of acknowledgement from the devs regarding the server side performance. Clearly it’s not a small issue if it’s being talked about on the forums, the tracker, and reddit. The #1 concern should be this at the moment. On my server we have 5 people max. 4GB of Ram dedicated and TPS if often <17. Eating food is slow, drawing a bow is impossible, and fighting against any mobs is ridiculous. It’s concerning that this glaring issue seems to be continually looked over and never spoken about in the blog posts. They claim they’re going after the more “critical” issues and with 1.14.3 it sounds like everything is more minor. It’s almost like the game isn’t play tested in multiplayer or something.

It’s crazy, we were running 100+ mods on a 4GB server, with no issues or lag.  Now a vanilla snapshot server can’t run without lag because of this issue... really hope this gets addressed soon as the game is literally unplayable on servers.  

Anyone have an update on this issue in the newest snapshot?  19w04a? 

@Johnibur that makes sense, and would explain the intense lag. This wouldn’t only apply to newely generated chunks correct? Meaning it could happen in any chunk once it is reloaded after being away for some time?

Currently running a server on 19w03c and I'm having a difficult time pin pointing what causes this message to start being spammed.  It appears to have something to do with hostile mobs.  My server runs smoothly during the day time for the most part, but once it becomes night time and someone is out exploring (not in new chunks) the console starts going crazy with the above message or a variation of it with a different entity and the game becomes unplayable forcing us to restart the server.  I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue at night time?
