I am so troubled and confused as to why this wasn’t fixed in 1.21.6. As others have pointed out, the issue degrades performance significantly when chunks with a lot of entities are loaded. For those of us with longtime worlds, it is detrimental to the experience if you are on a Mac. For Mojang to deprioritize this issue in the latest release is really disappointing. I get this seems to be a side effect from intentional rendering changes to prepare for Vibrant Visuals, but is this really an acceptable cost to alienate so many users? I have a very powerful machine and had excellent performance before 1.21.5.
If this is occurring on a Mac or another computer with an ARM CPU, this could be a dupe of MC-295893 . But OP needs to provide some detail.
I cannot believe this is still not fixed. 😕
Still having this issue on all 1.21.5 and all snapshots thereafter so really hoping Mojang fixes this 😞
@amthyst_ It looks like the Mojang team wants this to be the main ticket, so I encourage you to upvote this ticket. It will be more clearly a priority for them to address if one Jira ticket has a lot of attention vs. the same issue being flagged in multiple tickets.
Sounds like you have an ARM CPU (many new PCs and all the current Macs do) in which case you are likely experiencing the same problem as is documented in MC-295893 and should upvote that ticket.
Nothing I have tried either appears to resolve the issue. Mojang has to patch it. Until then, your game is unfortunately not playable on your current machine.
I’ve also tried to increase my allotted RAM and even at 10% utilization, I’m running at 10fps in areas of the game with a lot of entities. This version of the game is unplayable on ARM CPU machines. I am so hoping they rollout a patch soon and we don’t have to wait for a new version.
I'm running 1.21.5 on an Apple M3 Pro MacBook Pro with 18GB RAM and the game is almost unplayable for me now when I am in my single player base near a lot of entities. On 1.21.4, I had absolutely no problems, but now, I have very poor FPS. Others are reporting this issue running 1.21.5 on Apple Silicon in this Reddit thread.
I can confirm the Immediately Fast mod does correct the issue 100% on an ARM Mac. I was very reluctant to install any mods, and had lived with this bug for the past 4 months, but I couldn’t take it anymore so glad my game is back to normal, at least for now. I’m still on 1.21.5 though using the Fabric loader and the mod from a few comments back.
