This problem has started to effect me yesterday. At first, it showed my name as "skinStandardCustom" and then a LONG string of letters and numbers. After a reset, it then only showed it as "skinStandardCust". Another thing that happened when this glitch happened to me is that some of my video settings were reset (I usually have my sensitivity on max and have the GUI scale on -1). My 15th anniversary cape also disappeared from my skin selection. According to my friends when connected to a Realm, it did show my Xbox username as intended.
Edit: It wasn't just my video or keyboard settings that were effected, most of the settings that I had changed were also altered.
Edit 2: When I went to look at the "options.txt" file in the "minecraftpe" folder, the "mp_username" slot seems to get replaced with the info that used in the "mp_prev_app_name" slot. I still don't understand why my settings were changed when this glitched effected me.
Sorry for the late response.
I was using a custom skin made with some of the new Marketplace Pass character parts that are galaxy themed to (try to) join. Using any other skin works as expected. Equipping the skin with the new Marketplace items while in a world seem to work fine too. I haven’t tried to see which character part creates the error yet.
For further detail, I had these character parts set on character slot 5. I have added an image to show the character with the parts on.
