I believe I have encountered this bug or at least something similar in 26.3. Here is a video with me experimenting with it, and the save since it was requested in a previous comment.
I have only included the affected region and deleted excess chunks to reduce file size, and so it brings attention to the affected ones at coordinates x: -320 z: 420.
It's possible to correct individual block columns with some “finesse“. Leaving and reentering the world does not correct it from what I experienced. The key to the problem really seems to be tall placements with lots of air blocks in between, the skylight simply does not propagate correctly. As for how the area got like this in the first place, I do not know.
Have the same issue, clean install didnt solve. And now the launcher stays eternally on the iniciating game stage only sometimes returning this error code. Meanwhile my .minecraft folder got filled with 10 log txt files. Seems to be a problem with downloading an update? Hope this is related and helps, here is the most recent log I have, if needs be I can post all of them.
As a patch up solution, I’ve found that the legacy launcher still works, if you want to play Java that is.
