This is still a bug in 17w06a; and, since it seems it's not mentioned here, this bug does not happen when you let yourself naturally bounce down.

I found a solution on reddit that said to turn on "Use VBOs" in video settings, and that worked for me.

To make one in creative, you have to place the last end portal frame from inside the square.

The reason it doesn't work is because the slime block is trying to push the sandstone below it and with it all the other sandstone in front of it, which is more than 12 blocks
