I'm playing the 1.5 pre-release, and I'm still having this problem. I played 1.4.7 with 120+FPS, and even now, after they said they fixed it, I get between 40-50.
It seems that others have had this problem, however they have concluded that particles created by Iron Golems cause the crash. I can confirm that I too had Iron Golems around me, protecting the village. 🙂
