I am currently playing Minecraft 1.8.3 on a server.
There seems to be some kind of inadvertent race condition occurring between the chunk blocks loading and the mobs loading and being subject to the world's effects (such as gravity, and/or not being able to go through blocks normally). I have lost all manner of livestock as well as villagers due to getting stuck in blocks or sinking into the ground and suffocating.
One time it even happened to myself while logging in, that I sank down into the ground before the world was loaded, and then was stuck in the ground suffocating. I logged out and logged back in, and then I wasn't stuck in the ground anymore.
Please fix this bug, it is wreaking havoc on my enjoyment (lost 3 or 4 villagers).
