We use the digital version. After VR update, this started to happen. It stays in the red Mojang screen for a long time, and then the load screen takes couple of minutes to load. First we thought it's not ever going to load, then by chance we found out that we need to wait for a very long time (about 5 min) and eventually it will load.

We originally purchased the digital bedrock edition in June and then updated regularly.

I have exactly the same issue after the update.
