HI~ I'm having the same issues as above, etc.
Regarding the temporary fix of creating a new local Switch account. Do you mean a new user? I tried creating a new user and I was able to sign in and connect my Microsoft account successfully. But when I tried to go on realms it said I needed to buy the Nintendo Online account. Earlier I had tried to associated that NO account with the new Switch user, but it wouldn't let me because it was already associated with my original Switch user account. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to have to buy another NO account.

Yes! This is absurd. One outage is frustrating… but two weekends in a row is unacceptable. Realms connection has been awful during the week too.
