This should in my opinion not be a duplicate of MC-240155 or MC-30607, this terrain makes no sense, the other is world generator feature. I think this should not be a feature. Maybe it is the same bug. I personally don't think so.
Sometimes minecraft crashes without information in the launcher, only exit code -1 if you follow the "How to reproduce" steps in my Bugreport: MC250673
