Thanks. Evidently while it hangs, I am able to connect to the Minecraft Server, but the deployment eventually says that it times out.

I have, and because it's a Mojang template, they do not have control over your Azure template. It is not an Azure problem, it is a Mojang created template issue. Azure support specifically says it is YOUR support issue, not theirs.
