Here is some footage of the bug in action - This bug has existed since Minecraft version 1.7 all the way up to the latest version of Minecraft.
Footage is recorded on Minecraft version 1.19.2
Explanation of what is seen in the footage:
- Hunger does not deplete if I hit an entity (in this case a mob) whilst sprinting with Sprint on "Toggle".
- Bug is caused by the fact that the game thinks I am walking, and because of that, I can run and not lose hunger seemingly forever. It's only when I stop sprinting & start sprinting again that the hunger system recognizes that I am actually sprinting, & so it starts depleting my hunger accordingly.
as you can see at the end of the footage, my hunger only depletes after I start sprinting again. Bug is caused because the game thought I stopped sprinting after I hit the slime.
