A quick trial (couldn't go for more than a minute or so) says this might indeed be the cause. I'll reopen if it comes up again.
It's very weird because nothing I was knowingly touching would have been misconstrued for a media key, event, or anything else.
But I'll be happy if it is the final fix for that! 🙂
