I had the issue when i put a roundel over a flower charge. on the banner it makes a nice sun pattern, but on the shield, you can see the inside negative space of the flower pattern above the roundel. i was trying to make a sunrise shield. i got a screenshot that shows the issue nicely, but i don't know how or if you even can upload pictures in these comments.
