I'd like to state that the same problem is still occurring in both my computers (1.6.2 on both, one Mac and one PC). I had cows and chicken glitching. It might be hard to measure if the mobs are glitching more often or not, because it's happens so randomly, being many in a compressed space or not. After running my Chicken Farm for some hours now, I have to say that I can't really notice any difference when comparing to prior versions.
