I was wondering if this bug is also related to recent bug I found... basically you can go to room that have ceiling. You have to be creative since it's more obvious with little longer block placement range. At right height you can place block then server removes it since it's actually too far in server side, yet it is close enough on client side. This disagreement of placement ranges may be same type of bug (if not literally same) as this. Mob Y may have disagreed and as result mob falls down one block on client side but for server its at correct place. (In fact, misalignment is in same direction too! HMM)
X Y and Z collision bug Probably not same line but definitely in same region of code.
I hope this gets fixed because I'm tired of it. 😛
I'm still unsure why this is such a problem because there is so many obsidian, or in least pre-obsidian in Netherland. There is effectively infinite ocean of lava there.
My problem is not # of posts, but # of edits, most of em minor edits, so I get ~20 emails by Nathan editing his posts.

Disable transparency ONLY when block isn't supposed to have transparent parts. Like stone or wool block. Not leaves, grass, lily, and so on. That's what I mean by Solid block.
That makes me wonder if sometimes server and client happen to desync Y by just a little, enough that in client mobs is tiny amount lower, enough to fall into next block down?
Interesting. Bug appears if 2 persons use chest at same time. My bro clicked chest, I went in, deposited stuff and left to make more stuff. My bro finished and left and chest top was still up.
Maybe some sort of counter is needed. If browsing users is >= 1, lid stay up?
Other weird effect is that you can sleep while flying. However if this bug happens, you fly off into air. When you wake up, you will fly off again.
Yeah "Admin can repair" is not a real solution.
I think it really should be its own biome, just like supposed to be upcoming soon village biome. Make it as rare as mushroomland.
It's /seed unless its server then you can't see the seed.

There is 3 "levels" of tool usage. "Correct tool", "Wrong tool" and "no tool". I think shovel don't work on webs because it is "no tools" catalog for webs. Sword count as "Wrong tool" so 2 uses, BUT there's no such thing as silk touch for sword (or shears for that matter!)
Would have to test it though.
That is why I suggested that all blocks render both sides within 2 or 3 meters from head and make solid blocks have NO alpha. That would render all xray schemes useless.
