I finally got it... There is in fact a specific server software for Minecraft PE clients, it's PocketMine-MP.
I have experimented with older versions and everything seems fine with regards to network traffic, although i seem to be experiencing this bug: MCPE-10552
Still can't play, as i get an "Outdated server error", apparently i should get the latest version from:
http://jenkins.pocketmine.net/job/PocketMine-MP/Development/
but the site seems to be down for the moment, i will wait for updates. Hope this helps someone else, i guess this bug can be closed.
I am pretty sure is has nothing to do with the router / port forwarding. I do networking for a living 🙂
I am trying to connect my pocket clients (which reside on my home LAN) to this type of server software :
https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/1.8.9/minecraft_server.1.8.9.jar
which resides on the internet (aws to be more precise).
Is this something possible? If not, is there a minecraft server version that i can install which supports pocket clients?
Thanks for the help!
Just double checked, i can access the server without any issues using the PC version. With the Pocket edition, i have tried on iPhone, iPad and Android on the exact same LAN, no packet ever reaches the server, although IP address and Port are properly configured.
I am experiencing this problem as well, Luke Arnold workaround worked perfectly for me!
I now get an outdated server and the site :
http://jenkins.pocketmine.net/job/PocketMine-MP/Development/
is offline, any idea where i can get a server version that works with MCPE v0.13.2alpha?
