This bug happens when you reload the world or edit world with PocketInvEditor. This bug happens on MCPE versions BELOW 0.8.x Consider upgrading to higher version.

Chickens follows player if player holds normal (wheat) seeds. Its not the bug you are talking about, consider playing around more.
