have been having this same problem for months. It will run vanilla but not the same version with optifine.
I had the same problem and updating to the latest java didn't help, however I was using the java option "-Xss192k" which limits the stack size, apparently after the 1.6 update this size is too small.
@OcelotOnesie there are no resource packs enabled.
