My apologies, I went to recreate it and I realized that I think I mistook the automatic trigger of the crawling animation for falling into the block below me, since both would look the same in first person and I somehow never realized that crawling was even in the game. But the other person who commented seems to have had a different problem than what I thought I had so this could still be a problem.
