I have a similar issue. I have defined Entity.something:my_custom_entity.name of my custom entity. When I use /kill on my entity it actually displays as it should with proper name, but If I for example get killed by this entity then it displays as ‘player was slain by Unknown’
The error is related to the choice of the wrong encoding when you open the language file. Judging by the symbols, I found out that the file opens with the encoding of the Windows 1251, but should with the encoding of UTF-8.

There is an actual example. On the left is a knowledge book with new texture, and on the right is a recipe help button with old texture

"item_damage" parameter should be just "damage" since "item_damage" does not work
