I am also having the same issue with the game not initializing. It comes up and says, "Game Crash, an unexpected issue occurred and the game has crashed. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have not been able to play for about a week now. The game worked fine until I installed the latest update. I am running Windows 10 and everything is up to date. Thanks Minecraft team.
