I have started having this problem today, and so has a friend (who owns the Realm). We are both on 1.12.2, and have been visiting the Realm frequently. I had only last been on the Realm earlier today, and now this bug has appeared, preventing the Realm from being used.
(A group of us had been working on preparing the Realm to be opened to the rest of our friends tomorrow, and we were planning a big celebration... I do hope that this issue will be resolved soon...)
Edit: Realms has started functioning again, for me, at least. Thanks to whoever is responsible for this, and I hope that the problem is solved for everyone else, too.
