I can't be sure if this was the 'fix' for me, but I updated to build 15042 of Windows 10 and the white play window when using the NVidia card is no longer white. The game is visible again.

Same nVidia driver revision (378.66 / Feb 13th, 2017) that white screened last on build 15031.

For the record, NVidia just released v378.66 today, on 2-14-2017, and the white screen in the MC player app remains, when running the game with the discrete NVidia GPU. The game runs fine, albeit slowly, when you run it with the onboard Intel graphics chip.

The good news is the crash when you run MC with the 1-24-2017 NVidia driver is gone. (nvinitx.dll) MC runs, but the app is white, and I can still hear the background music, and the boot log looks the same.

Here's the text of the game output:

I can confirm that when I downgrade the NVidia driver (but not the MC launcher) to a known-good variant for me in the past (like Oct 2016) the white play window remains.

Onboard video shows the screen, NVidia adapter is white. Driver has been downgraded from 1/24/2017 to v375.70. (Oct 2016 I think)

The launcher is not white at first, you can see the new launcher and the play button, but when you click 'play' you still get a white background in the window and can't see anything. You can hear the audio, but can't see anything but white.

It does not fix it for me. I downgraded my NVidia driver and even reset my Win 10 installation, but the problem remains. Old and new launcher.

I did a quick search of the Jira tickets for 'launcher white' and I see 5+ Jira tickets reporting the same issue over time. None of them are resolved, most are closed and lumped together with 5065. There's a lot of people "me too'ing" this issue.

Rolled back both NVidia driver revision (v378.49 [with client crash issue] -> 376.33 -> 375.70), and Windows recent update but the white launcher is still occurring.  375.70 was rel'd 10/28/2016 and I'm fairly certain I used it successfully at the time.

Is there a way for me to roll back the launcher revision? My launcher is v1.6.73. The OP shows his was 1.6.66. Is there a launcher archive somewhere that I could pick up an older launcher and try out?

Just noticed this may be a dupe of MCL-5065 that is still unresolved.

Same thing happens for me. No mods, vanilla launcher, just installed. Tried downgrading NVidia driver again but no help. It does NOT happen when I use the onboard Intel 4000 GPU, it ALWAYS happens now if I choose the discrete NVidia 660M GPU. The game loads, you can follow the client log if you tail the file in the filesystem, and it's clearly loading, it's just not displaying anything in the launcher but white and a titlebar. I can hear the music when it finishes loading, but nothing in the window but white.
I've been playing MC on this laptop for 3+ years now. It seems to have only started doing this in the last week or three.
The latest.log output for a vanilla 1.11.2 game is sparse, but doesn't suggest any issues: http://pastebin.com/FQF6TdhQ. This happens for other versions of MC too, so it hints that the launcher isn't happy with the NVidia driver for some reason. (since the Intel still works)
I had an issue with the next "released" NVidia driver yesterday (game actually errored on launch, a Jira ticket here had a response from Mojang that blamed it on the latest NVidia, so I downgraded and the crash went away, but now with the downgrade I've got a solid whitescreen in the launcher on a fresh MC install)
