same issue, win 7, java launcher
(latest version, because i don't have a choice)
(non-beta, even though stability is not guaranteed 😛)
behavior is 100% consistent
launcher crashes right after launching minecraft
no change in settings or system
issue started happening after launcher forcefully updated itself yesterday
launcher also forcefully updated itself about a month ago but there were no issues!
(don't update if it's working: why fix it if it isn't broken?!)
