Sorry for a late reply. I'm not sure whether this bug is still a concern with the current version, as I have forgotten about submitting this. I'll double check everything.

Edit: I just double checked, and it appears that this still happens.

This bug doesn't seem to be occurring in 1.8

I tested it with all letters in my keyboard and only R and F didn't do anything. The rest worked fine. Also, this doesn't occur in 14w30c. Here's a link from 14w30c: http://imgur.com/woAELOm

I did not know about the signs. Thanks for adding it. Also, it's not on just the first layer, but on every layer until a full snow block, if that's what you meant.

Daniel, double check the numbers again. This one is lower than the other one. Also, that one is about the block mid-fall, and this is not just about sand, but it also happens to gravel and anvils.

Referring to MC-46225: No blocks get destroyed/replaced by the falling sand/anvil/gravel. It just disappears for a split second then comes back to normal.
Referring to MC-51662: The falling object doesn't drop as an item, it still remains as a block.

Not really, there are no pistons involved, you just drop the blocks. I'll post a video.

Actually, it's a little different, since it was directly spawned from an Enderman, and not killed.

Now when I give myself a burning furnace, it has no texture in inventory. 14w26c

Well in this snapshot, the dropped item(s) bounced on flat lava like I was skipping stones for 2-3 times on occasion. I tried it in other versions and it burned up instantly.
