Note that I'm seeing the same framerate in 14w30b. With VBOS disabled, I get an additional farm or two per second.
The particular spot I'm standing in during the screenshot is lower than most spots, but you can see 12 FPS in 14w30c and 20 FPS in 1.7.10.
