Bed placement is not 16x16 square in the below test FYI. Came up as 16, 16, 15, 15.
I placed a villager at 70, 4, -70. I then marked out 5 block spaces from there ( villagers at base 0). 2 of the 4 sides only reach 15 spaces whereas the other two sides reached 16 spaces.

I think the reason you're seeing those results is that you're counting blocks rather than measuring distance. The block space the bed is in is not the center of the square, because the center of a square is a point, not a block space. If you instead measure from the northwest corner of that block space, I think you'll measure it as 16, 16, 16, 16. Edit: This also implies that the glowstone blocks on the left and top sides are inside the square, while those on the right and bottom are in the adjacent squares.
Oh yes this is most definitely a global spawn cap issue. I wasn't searching for the correct terms I guess. Thanks so much for your time!
The issue goes away once the player leave sim range so I figured it was built in just wanted to verify as I couldn't find anything with the words I was searching for.
This most recently happened last night to me (12/16) around 11pm cst.
I was returning to the end after I died on this most recent crash.
this happened multiple times before that as well and I don’t believe I was returning after a death on those times. I think after the 1.18 update was the first time we entered the end so I don’t know if this was present before.
I play on my gfs server and when I would enter the end, it would crash her game and thus the server. I haven’t tried duplicating on solo yet.
Side note: Last week I was able to swim through that same cave without a problem and without needing a light source. It was closer to how the ocean water would work.
From the images, you can see the cave is dimly light without night vision. You can also see that the night vision works for the 12s of the conduit perk after leaving the water. The conduit makes underwater a little brighter but nearly 0 transparency.
Sorry, not sure how to reply to your post. But I think I understand it now. Thanks for your help! For others who run into this, maybe this will help.
