Getting the exact same issue. I'm using Linux Mint 17.1 and after installing the new launcher (downloaded the deb from here and then installed with GDebi) I'm not able to run it. It also seems that GCC is the issue. Running ./minecraft-launcher.sh on /opt/minecraft-launcher also gives this
./launcher: relocation error: ./launcher: symbol _ZTINSt8ios_base7failureB5cxx11E, version GLIBCXX_3.4.21 not defined in file libstdc++.so.6 with link time reference
Tried updating libstdc++6 and found out it was already on the latest release. I'm also lost here... Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂
