I am getting this same message in our SMP server and over a short period of time (a couple hours) it becomes unplayable due to server lag.

Same thing is happening to our smp server. Lucky one of our players was far away from any item frame so we quickly teleported to his location and can play. However as soon as we get close to a chunk that contains an item frame, CRASH! We are just staying away from item frames until a fix comes along.
