I have the same issue on the same version (Latest version as of 21st August 2023). I am NOT in beta, and have the official purchased version of Minecraft from Google Play store.
The buttons need to be clicked twice or thrice to be opened. To scroll in the menus, you need to tap twice in an empty space and hold and scroll.
To use a slider, you need to tap twice to slide it.
Tried remedies [Failed]:
Clearing cache.
Reinstalling minecraft.
Removing screen guard and cleaning screen.
Restarting phone.
