Something related to this bug also happens in 1.8, maybe also 1.9. Some blocks' textures on some sides gets stretched. For example, on any of the 0.5x0.5x1 parts of the model of any Stairs block, the texture gets squashed sometimes, making a whole block texture occupy the space of a 0.5x1 block sized model. The result is a weird effect. It applies to many blocks that have a different model than a full block, for example, this bug makes the Carpet side texture sometimes be severely squashed, making 16 pixels occupy the place of 1. I considered the reason this bug is happening to be the block texture random rotation, but I am not completely sure now.
